Financial conditions for students enrolled at St. George International School for the 2023-2024 academic year (The fees are in euro)
1. Admission fee The Admission fee is 500 euro. It is a one-off payment and is not a subject to reimbursement. It is due when applying to St. George International School and Preschool. The fee covers expenses for exam of documents, stay of the candidate at the school on a trial day with food included, entry exam and the subsequent administrative services. The admission fee is not applicable for students, enrolled in St. George International School and applying for 5th and 8th grade.
2. Guarantee deposit The guarantee deposit is 1000 euro. It is a lump-sum that has to be paid when signing the contract. It serves as a guarantee for keeping the place of the student in school, and may serve as a compensation for damages caused by the child to the facilities or delays in payment. The residue is a subject to reimbursement after the completion of tuition.
3. Annual Tuition Fee The tuition fees, listed in the table above, are annual, in euro, when the total is paid in one instalment. When choosing to pay a tuition fee in 2, 3 or 10 instalments, then 3%, 8% and 10% increase is charged respectively. When choosing to pay in 10 instalments, the first instalment from the tuition fee is at the amount of 3500 euro and the residue is separated into 9 equal instalments.
The annual tuition fee covers:
Teaching process in accordance with the Bulgarian National Standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria, training in certain subjects determined by the school according to the Cambridge Primary School for Primary Education and Cambridge International School for Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary Education in lessons apart of the compulsory school program. Speech status of the child up to Grade 4 – performed twice a year. Annual accident insurance Educational visits to cultural and historical places of interest in the city of Sofia, museums, theatres, etc. Conducting a compulsory green/white school outside Sofia according to the program for intercultural, environmental, and intercultural training. Additional expenses:
Educational resources fee; Participation of the student in sport, music, applied, performing and fine arts, etc. blocks outside the compulsory program (upon request). Food. Fresh juice (upon request). School uniform. Transport (upon request). Additional school trips or excursions outside the city of Sofia (upon request). Additional services, specialized personal equipment of the student for the purpose of the compulsory green/white school, etc. Inclusion in an additional program to increase the level of English language proficiency or other subjects determined by the school in case the student does not meet the age-specific standards. Exams fees for: - External assessment to determine the level of English language proficiency – annually. - Cambridge Primary Statement of Achievement – 4th grade - Cambridge Secondary Statement of Achievement – 7th grade - International General Certificate of Secondary Education Cambridge (IGCSE) – 9th and 10th grade - International Advanced Level Certificate (As-Level and А-level) – 11th and 12th grade. Deadlines for payment of the tuition fee :

Educational resources The amount of the educational resources fee is determined for each school year. It is due with the first instalment according to the payment plan chosen by the parents; it is paid separately from the annual tuition fee and is not subject to reimbursement in case of leaving the school. Educational Resources fee covers the usage and subscription to online platforms, basic and additional textbooks, basic pack of notebooks, school materials intended for practical trainings, personal tablet for students from 5th until 10th grade, digital codes for the students in Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary stage, etc.
5. Examination fee It is determined for every school year and is due with the first instalment according to the payment plan chosen by the parents, it is paid separately from the annual tuition fee and is not a subject to reimbursement in case of termination the tuition contract. In the beginning of every school year the students from all grades have to pass an external assessment to determine the level of English language proficiency. At the end of the academic year:
The students from 4th and 7th grade sit Cambridge International Primary/ Secondary Checkpoint exams. The students from 9th grade sit an exam for acquiring an IGCSE certificate in 4 subjects. The students from 10th grade sit an exam for acquiring an IGCSE certificate in 6 subjects. The students from 11th and 12th grade sit an exam for acquiring an As-Level / A-Level certificate in 3 subjects.* * In case the student will sit more exams, each subsequent one is paid extra. ** The exams in 11th and 12th grade in physics, chemistry, biology and modern foreign language also include a practical component. In case the student sits such an exam, there is an additional payment for every practical part. *** The school reserves the right to defer the admission to exam for gaining a IGCSE, As Level or A-level certificate depending on their performance.
6. Food The food fee is calculated and paid separately from the annual tuition fee. The students have four meals per day : breakfast, morning snack, lunch with a choice of 4 dishes (salad, soup, main dish and dessert – the children can choose from several kinds of each dish) and afternoon snack. The food fee is at the amount of 10 ,50 euro per school day for the students for Primary stage (1st – 4th grade). For the students from Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary stage (5th – 12th grade) the amount is 11,50 euro . The parents can request the addition of fresh juice once per day with the afternoon snack, the cost is 1, 8 0 euro per juice. The fee is formed based on the number of school days for each school year and is paid in one (annual) or two instalments (prior to the beginning of each term). At the end of the academic year, a recalculation is performed and any unused amount paid for food for the days of absence of the student with a valid reason is reimbursed.
7. Transport The service is provided by an independent licensed company for student transportation according to their own set terms and conditions for children aged 3 or older. The transport fee is calculated and paid separately from the annual tuition fee according to the method of payment chosen by the parents. Communication in relation to requesting, organisation and administration of the service is established directly between the parents and the driver as every parent, who has requested a transportation service, signs an individual contract with the transport company.
8. Sport, music, applied, performing and fine arts, and other blocks outside the compulsory program The parents may request the participation of the student in several sports, music, performing and fine arts, technology, and design, etc. blocks outside the compulsory school programme, for which an additional fee to the annual tuition fee is due. These activities have to be requested according to an additional schedule, through the electronic platform of the School, but not later than five days before the start of the school year for the first school term and not later than 15.01. - for the second academic term. The fee for participating in these blocks should be paid before the beginning of each term and is not subject to reimbursement in case of refusal to visit the activities.
9. Signing a contract Tuition Contract of a student is concluded between the parents/guardians and St. George International School and Preschool from the moment of enrolment of the student until completion of his/her tuition in the school:
For new students the contract has to be signed after an admission procedure has been passed and a confirmation for admission of the applicant has been sent to the parents of the candidate. A payment plan is enclosed to the tuition contract according to the requested by the parents/guardians method of payment of the tuition fee for the respective school year – in one, two, three or ten instalments.For returning students the payment plan, an integral part to the tuition contract is subject to annual re-signing for every further academic year until April 30th of the present academic year. In such case applicable for the next academic year are the financial conditions for returning students. If an updated payment plan for the next school year is not signed for a student enrolled during the current academic year until April 30th as well as no payment is made within the set time frame, the School may terminate the tuition contract. A new contract can be concluded at a later stage if there are vacancies and under the conditions for new students.The students, enrolled in 4th , 7th and 10th grade in the School during the current academic year, who are willing to continue their education also in the future stage (5th -7th , respectively 8th -10th and 11th -12th grade) should undergo an admission procedure. In case of a positive statement of admission, they should sign a tuition contract for the next academic year until 3 0 of March for the students in 4th and 7 th grade and until 30 of April for the students in 10th grade, to preserve the conditions for returning students.10. Discounts
Discounts from the tuition fee: a 5% discount is provided upon enrolment of a second child from one family, a 10% discount – for each subsequent child from the family, and for twins – 15% discount for one of the twins. Discounts do not apply to: guarantee deposit payment, admission fee, educational resources fee, exams fee, school trips (“green” and “white school”), school uniform, food, fresh juice, participation in the sport, music, applied, performing and fine arts, and other blocks outside the compulsory program In case there is an option for more than one type of discount, the calculations are based on the highest discount, without accumulation. 11. Entry after the start of the school year Upon entering a student after the beginning of the school year, the tuition fee is proportionally reduced to the missed number of school days from the beginning of the school year to the starting day of the student in the school. Educational resources fee, exams fee, admission fee and guarantee deposit are not a subject of reduction.
12. Leave school before the end of the school year In case of termination of a student’s tuition contract before the end of the school year and a kept requirement for one-month notice, the tuition fee is reimbursed based on the requested leave date according to the following periods:
from 15 September until 30 October - 25%; from 1 November until 31 January - 20% from 1 February until 31 March - 15%; The educational resources fee, the admission fee and the exams fee are not subject to reimbursement.
13. Waiting list In case there are no vacancies at the date of submission of the Admission application for the respective grade, the parents may request their inclusion in the waiting list by submitting an e-mail request. When a place is available in the respective age group, the parents are notified in the order of submission of the request for inclusion in the waiting list. In all cases the student should have passes an admission procedure and have received a confirmation statement for admission to be enrolled in the school.
