Normative framework: Art. 12, p. 2 of the WUA.

This procedure concerns cases in which an individual student goes to distance learning in an electronic environment and does not apply to a state of emergency or quarantine of an entire class or school.

There are two options in which a parent may submit an application according to art. 12, p. 2 of the WUA for distance learning in an electronic environment:

Option 1 – due to medical reasons, with all necessary medical documents attached (according to Application 2 of the Guidelines for the work of the school education system in the 2020-2021 academic year in the conditions of COVID-19 from August 27, 2020.) and declaration - filled in by parents (according to the rules) for an appropriate environment for distance learning in an electronic environment. The application is approved by the Director of the school within one working day.

Option 2 – if that is the decision of the parent - with attached declaration for a provided an appropriate environment for distance learning in an electronic environment. The application, declaration and information about the grades, absences and success of the student are going to be sent for approval by the Director of the school within one working day to the Regional Department of Education, Sofia (RUO). Within 3 working days the final decision will be received from RUO and in case the application is approved, in 5 days term from the submission of the application, the school starts the distance learning in an electronic environment.

Option 3 – This option is not part of the normative framework of art. 12, p.2 from WUA. – When a student is under a quarantine for a period of 14 days, after returning from a country at a risk. The parent must inform the school and to fill in a declaration for a provided appropriate environment for distance learning in an electronic environment.

For the period of distance learning in an electronic environment, the School will provide the following:

• Access to all lessons conducted in the School in real time or on record, without the possibility of interaction with the teacher;
• Access to educational resources, online platforms and textbooks;
• Access to educational content;
• Weekly sending of materials for self-preparation;
• Recording absences, monitoring of student's progress and assessment for the period of distance learning.
