Delegation of the European Parliament from the Commission for Regional Development on a visit at St. George International School & Preschool and Educational-Sports Complex Lozenets EAD
Today, Members of the European Parliament from the Commission for Regional Development made an official visit to St. George International School & Preschool and Educational-Sports Complex Lozenets EAD as an example for achievement of the Cohesion policy and as shared benefits for all member states of the EU.
During the official visit to Bulgaria, the delegates visited two projects implemented with funds of the JESSICA initiative by the Fund for Sustainable Urban Development EAD, Sofia, and which serves as an example of successful investment of EU funds in beneficial, and sustainable urban projects, namely “Implementation of high-tech medical equipment for diagnostics and treatment in University General Hospital Ivan Rilski” EAD and “Building of Educational-Sports Complex Lozenets”.
We are happy that due to the second project, the new modern home of St. George School & Preschool was built. The idea of the project implementation is based not only on the improvement and modernisation of urban infrastructure, but is also focused mainly on providing access to a place where children could obtain a contemporary education according to the highest international standards, and where they can fulfil their potential while being close to their families.
We are grateful and would like to thank Mrs. Nadia Dankinova and her team from the Fund for Sustainable Urban Development EAD, Sofia, because together we have successfully demonstrated how a private initiative and the European Fund for Regional Development can implement sustainable projects with a strong social impact, here in Bulgaria.
25 delegates participated in the meeting, including Iskra Mihaylova, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Commission for Regional Development, Nadia Dankinova, CEO of the Fund for Sustainable Development EAD, Sofia, and the Members of the European Parliament Andrey Novakov, Angel Dzhambazki, Stanislav Polčák, Joachim Zeller, Constanze Krehl, Jens Nilsson, Matthijs Van Miltenburg, Younous Omarjee and others. They were warmly met by the pedagogical team of St. George School and Preschool, with students gladly sharing their dreams for the future, discussing their excitement to discover new depths of knowledge and eagerness to embrace the challenges of the modern world, for which they have the chance to prepare here, in Bulgaria.
